Some of the coaches date from the 1930's when they made up the iconic Brighton Belle electric express train operated by the Southern Railway. The train is heading to Gleneagles from Edinburgh where the ...

Nice one Stephen, Luxury at its finest, cheers 👍
@@nige7577 As Harry Enfield would have said "Loadsa Money"💰
@@StephenDrysdaleBroughtylad😂👍
A quality compilation of the movements at Aviemore.
Thanks although the noise from the breezy conditions intrudes at times.👍
There Class 2 of LMS Ivatt Mogul’s in Scotland are strathspey steam railway
Excellent catch both ways Stephen and no time to blink, cheers 👍
I thought it would be a colourful test for the camera on my new smartphone so thanks for the comment.👍
Excellent catch Stephen, glad you were able to catch this, it was moving at just the right speed to get a good look at it, cheers 👍
Thanks and it's probably the one and only time I will ever see this iconic train in action as it rarely gets north of the Thames never mind north of the border.
@@StephenDrysdaleBroughtylad 👍
Brilliant, didn,t know about this event, ah next time 🖖
I never thought to tell you but this rail tour was reported in the Courier.
@@StephenDrysdaleBroughtylad I do not buy the paper, I have info re Aberdonian in the summer etc, but no other info
It's good seeing you Stephen
Nice pass through the Ferry.
Excellent shots Stephen, the pair were certainly belting through both locations spot on, cheers 👍
Thanks for the comment and just sometimes it nearly all comes together as desired.👍
Lovely shots Stephen, it’s always great to see a pair of 5s, running, cheers 👍
Riley's reliable racers in top form yet again. Marvellous performers when considering the annual mileages they have olocked up over many years in preservation and all due to the care and attention that is lavished to keep them in top notch condition.👍
Good to see 44871 carrying a 65J shed plate (Stirling?) nice pass at Dunkeld.
Nice one Stephen, looks like you’re on your own again, a few years back that would have been 37 hauled, cheers 👍
Quiet here on a Sunday with very few stoppers and Intercity turns back in the blue and grey era would likely be hauled by Class 26/27, class 40 and later class 47 in the push pull sets like your excellent capture at Shap. I don't remember seeing the 37 here on a regular basis except for maybe freights.👍
@@StephenDrysdaleBroughtyladThanks for that Stephen, cheers 👍
Great tune, but the lyrics elevate it to another level.
Perfect and not a soul in sight!
I thought it might be possible after here to zip up to Riverside Drive to be just in time to catch it climbing up to the bridge but that plan was scuppered by the fact that it was running 10 minutes late here leaving no time if it left Dundee on schedule after the path halt.
Nice catch Stephen, certainly not hanging about there and a Station all to yourself, cheers 👍
Thanks for the comment and yes I had the place to myself today and it sounded just like the good ole swinging sixties when anoraks were de rigueur.
@@StephenDrysdaleBroughtylad 😂👍
Nice catch
Maybe one of my better capture attempts so thanks for the comment.👍
Nicely captured Stephen, decent weather conditions for you and a lovely sound from the 40, cheers 👍
I had to get out and capture this as I have not witnessed a Class 40 or EE Type 4 as we knew them in action since the BR green/blue era when the locos were regular performers between Edinburgh and Aberdeen until the HST took over the services in the late 70's although I don't recall any of the named examples being allocated to the Scottish region but thanks for the comment.👍
I saw it in stirling
Super sounds from the class 40. Excellent video!
A blast from my past when I used to see and hear these locos with their distinctive whistle passing through my neck of the woods in the BR green/blue era until they were ousted by the HST on the ECML between Edinburgh and Aberdeen but thanks for the comment.👍
Superb pass and pan great sound at Cowdenbeath.
Thanks for the comment and I had considered going to Burntisland but I thought the sound effect would be better at Dalgety Bay.
I think guardsman is the better of the two, butwouod love to see either at Loughborough
We should be appreciative that we still have two fine examples of the class to be able to view in operation but thanks for viewing.
@@StephenDrysdaleBroughtylad not complaining my second favourite locos 1st is a jube
Nice one Stephen, something different, cheers 👍
Thanks for the comment and after sitting on these for several months I decided to throw them into the mix as I thought they might appeal to those who have an interest in all things nautical.🛳
Just seem Derek Pennys film. Will c half, the other part later.
Nice capture at a great location.
Yes indeed and the lady of the manor even offers you a cup of tea.
Excellent catch there Stephen, luckily no rain with the blustery wind, cheers 👍
Thanks and it was a little bit sheltered here at the rear of these houses as the gusts were from the other side.
Hi Nige that's my front door, not bad eh!
@@derekpennymainlineproducti4885 Spot on Derek, you certainly won't miss anything passing on that line 👍
Very nicely filmed, beautiful day, great little railway
Yes its a superbly managed lowland gem. I have visited many times and it continues to develop and improve but thanks for viewing.
Who the hell decided to have the Caledonian tank engine painted black again?!😡
Maybe due to popular demand?
Excellently captured Stephen spot on, cheers 👍
Thanks and its nice to get it just about right sometimes.👍
An excellent catch there Stephen, certainly on a charge, cheers 👍
It was not my original intention to do another shot here at my friends house but it is sheltered and the weather was still looking a bit iffy and it was certainly motoring here as it was running 5 mins late leaving the water stop at Dundee. Anyway that is another first for Leander and Bahamas on this stretch of the ECML as Jubilees never ran through here in the the old days. The reinstatement of the turntable at the Ferryhill heritage centre has made this route with its long sea views an attractive proposition for tour operators. Tornado was supposed to be hauling these tours but we are grateful for any steam loco that passes this way.👍
Nice pass.
Spot on Stephen, nicely captured, it didn’t look as though there was any space left on the Station platform 😂 cheers 👍
Indeed and most of the stations the loco passed through today were similarly populated with it being the school holidays up here and a good reason to give any a miss as no loco brings out the onlookers like this one does but thanks for the comment.👍
Awesome video of such a brilliant old steam train.
Just a pity it was a bit breezy on the day to spoil the audio but thanks for the comment.
Magnificent
The delightful Sonya and guitarist Glenn are still going strong and sounding as good as ever.🧑🎤🎸👍
How’d I miss this one? Nice.
Amazed I am still getting comments about this upload after all this time but thanks for viewing. Sonya was and still is a mesmerising vocalist with an infectious smile and enchanting personality.👍
Very nice 👍👍👍
Thanks for viewing and the comment.
Great capture of the GB tour with Bahamas in charge Stephen .
A superb looking loco and maybe its first visit north of the border in the preservation era but thanks for the comment.👍
Two nice catches Stephen, she was certainly motoring in the first shot and it didn’t sound as though there was that much assistance from the rear, cheers 👍
Thanks for the comment and this is possibly another preservation first for this superb loco with this visit north of the border. I had only seen the loco once before as a static museum exhibit awaiting overhaul at the KWVR. I am now waiting for Kholapur to be back running on the mainline to complete the Jubilee set.👍
@@StephenDrysdaleBroughtylad First return to Scotland since being built in Glasgow 👍
Great captures. Regards, John
A magnificent looking machine that was running effortlessly with minimal assistance so thanks for the comment.👍
Two super video clips of the Jubilee.
Thanks for the comment although I don't think I got the panning just right today for these shots but at least it was pleasant weather.👍
I know 5025 is fresh out of overhaul and a massive crowd drawer, but 828 steals the show whenever she’s on screen
Yes 828 is a scene stealer with that lovely Prussian blue livery and thanks for viewing.
You got the platform to yourself with good results.
Just as expected for a Sunday morning except for the guy who you maybe know and who always takes up that spot along beside the fence.
Beautiful 37 😊
37's rule for sound effects and thanks for viewing.
Great catch there Stephen, I understand that 37676 derailed at Inverness causing a massive delay for the return leg and was left there, cheers 👍
They must be hardy souls who frequent these tours when you see the stupid o'clock morning start times some of them kick off and there is always the possibility of a very late finish due to adverse circumstances as has happened here but thanks for viewing.👍
@@StephenDrysdaleBroughtylad I was a steward on this train, it was both funny and annoying watching Loch Rannoch because we where holding up the Caley Sleeper, anyway it delayed us by 2/3hours but we cut 40 mins off of that in the end
I was referring to rail tours in general and not the SRPS and if I was a younger person would be happy to travel on one.
@@StephenDrysdaleBroughtylad I would recommend it, even though this one was delayed is still was good fun, I enjoyed working on it
No twerking, no woke, no phones. What a time to be alive.
Yes indeed a brilliant decade of music with superb guitar bands like Echobelly before the politically correct selfie generation became infected.
Great catch Stephen, certainly not hanging about there, cheers 👍
Well it was short and sweet and I was a bit disappointed they did not have the loco leading for the run south but thanks for having a look.👍
Excellent enjoyed
Many tours hauled by a variety of steam locos visit Carlisle every year so thanks for viewing.👍
Spot on Stephen, enjoyed watching your footage as it’s always a challenge filming on the platform more so when you have two Scots arriving inside half an hour, would have been nice to see the pair adjacent to each other still a well worth visit for you , cheers 👍
Yes it can be a challenge trying to get far from the madding crowd for station shots but it goes with territory and I knew what to expect for a rare event like this. You just have to be patient and choose your pitch carefully. The one positive aspect at Carlisle is that the station staff are very much on the ball and very persistent at telling people to keep behind the yellow line. Everybody gets a shot if onlookers play by the rules. I actually had a premonition that some clever clogs would do a Photoshop showing the two tours sitting adjacent to each other and the Edkins chaps have done this very effectively on the intro to their coverage at Carlisle. Looks very 1950's if you can ignore the hoodies on the platform. Anyway enough of the ramble and once again thanks for the comment.
Super video Stephen :)
Thanks for viewing and the comment.
Superb video and brilliant close up shots, regards kevin
Thanks for the comment and it was a challenge trying to stay far from the madding crowds.👍
excellent coverage of the 2 Royal Scots locomotives, it was a pity that they couldn’t have been seen together on adjacent platforms! That would have been special!
Indeed and it would have been a hark back to the 1950's when this could have occurred although some clever guy will probably have thought about doing a photoshop to emulate what you have suggested. Anyway thanks for viewing and the comment.👍
